Unbelievable Luxury Awaits: Hotel Regency Korce, Albania - Your Dream Getaway!
Unbelievable Luxury Almost Awaits: My (Possibly Bizarre) Korce Adventure at Hotel Regency - A Review
Alright, buckle up, buttercups! Because I've just returned from a few days at the Hotel Regency Korce, Albania, and let me tell you, it was a roller coaster. Forget a smooth, polished review, you’re getting the raw, unfiltered… me. Think of it less as a travel guide and more of a therapy session… for you.
First things first: Korce itself is GORGEOUS. Seriously, postcard-worthy. Think cute cobblestone streets, whispers of history, and a vibe that feels… well, it feels like you’ve stumbled into a secret. Finding the Regency was a bit of an adventure, you know, the kind where you realize Google Maps is occasionally as helpful as a chocolate teapot. Finally, there it was, gleaming under the Albanian sun. My hopes were ridiculously high.
Accessibility: I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on accessibility, but I did notice the Elevator (thank GOODNESS!), and I did see Facilities for disabled guests listed. That’s a good start. But I'm sorry to say I have to rely on the hotel website to fully cover this.
Cleanliness & Safety: The Pandemic-Proofing Blitz! Okay, this is where the Regency shone. They were serious about the whole COVID thing. Anti-viral cleaning products, Daily disinfection in common areas, Physical distancing of at least 1 meter (mostly successful!), Staff trained in safety protocol – it felt almost…too clean? I kept expecting to find a hazmat suit in my closet. They even had Rooms sanitized between stays and a Room sanitization opt-out available (which I almost took advantage of because, well, I like to get my germs, okay? I can't live in a bubble). They even offered Hand sanitizer EVERYWHERE. I mean, everywhere. At the entrance, in the elevators, next to the salt and pepper shakers…
The Room: A Whirlwind of Niceties and… Mysteries. My room? Oh, it was a room. Air conditioning that worked like a champ, a Mini bar stocked with more water than I could drink (complimentary, thankfully!), and a Desk begging to be used, even though I practically lived in the Seating area, nestled under the blackout curtains, trying to recover from all the travel. There were Bathrobes that felt like a hug, Slippers that protected my feet, and a Shower that had great water pressure. Daily housekeeping was, well, daily. And they changed the Linens and Towels every day. The bed, though? Extra long. I swear, they built that room specifically for giants! They even offered complimentary tea and a coffee maker. The Internet access was pretty seamless. They said they had Internet access – wireless, even though it was a bit spotty in the room (still better than my home wifi). And of course, the room included a phone and a TV that kept me occupied in the evenings.
Dining, Drinking & Snacking: A Culinary Adventure (Mostly in the Right Direction!) The Breakfast [buffet] was a mixed bag. There was a wide variety of choices. I mean, I counted what was listed as Asian breakfast, Western breakfast, with Asian cuisine in restaurant and Western cuisine in restaurant. Lots of coffee/tea in restaurant, desserts, salads, and soup. I had a Breakfast [buffet] every morning, and it turned out to be a feast. The eggs? Sometimes rubbery, sometimes perfect. The pastries? Divine. The coffee? Strong enough to raise the dead. There was a Coffee shop that served a decent latte (essential!). The Poolside bar was ideal. I was planning to take a dip, but the hotel also had a Sauna, Steamroom, Spa, and Spa/Sauna. The Pool with view seemed like it would be perfect. Of course, I was traveling with family, and their needs are different than mine. Thankfully, they had a Kids meal included as well. The one night I ordered A la carte in restaurant. A bit pricey, but worth it.
Services and Conveniences: The Stuff That Makes Life Easier (Or Not!) The Concierge was genuinely helpful. The Daily housekeeping was efficient, maybe too efficient… I felt like they were judging my messy habits, but I can't say for sure. They offered Currency exchange, Cash withdrawal, and a Gift/souvenir shop (where I may or may not have bought a miniature Albanian flag keychain…). They even had Business facilities, which I didn’t use, thank goodness! Everything from an Elevator to Luggage storage and a Safe dining setup.
Things to Do, Ways to Relax: The (Almost) Endless List! They had it all, folks. Fitness center, Gym/fitness, Swimming pool, Swimming pool [outdoor]. I just used the Massage! After a long flight, it felt like I was melting into the massage table. I was able to arrange for a Body scrub, Body wrap, and Foot bath.
For the Kids: Let me tell you, Hotel Regency definitely caters to families. They had a Babysitting service, Family/child friendly, Kids facilities, and even a Kids meal. I was delighted to see that, like me, the hotel had a Babysitting service.
Getting Around: They had Airport transfer, Taxi service, Car park [free of charge], and Valet parking. I would say they thought of everything.
The Quirks & the “Almosts” (Because Perfection is Boring): Okay, here's where the "almost" comes in. I'm not even gonna go into the time I tripped over a rug in the lobby (my fault, not theirs!). Though there was a Shrine on the property. I had an incident with the internet: the included Internet access was spotty in my room, but the front desk was very willing to help -- which they did. They actually showed me how the Internet [LAN] worked in my room. I felt a little silly, but in the end, it worked. There was a Smoking area, which I didn't love, but hey, options are always nice, right?
So, is the Hotel Regency Korce your dream getaway?

Moxy Bangkok Ratchaprasong: Bangkok's HOTTEST Hotel? You NEED to See This!
Okay, buckle up, buttercups. This isn't your sanitized, Instagram-perfect travel itinerary. This is a messy, real-life, possibly-slightly-hungover trip to Hotel Regency in Korce, Albania. Prepare for rambles, regrets, and maybe a breakdown or two over the sheer audacity of a lukewarm cappuccino.
Hotel Regency Korce: The Albanian Adventure (or, How I Survived the Mountains and the Meat)
Day 1: Arrival and Immediate Existential Dread (Plus, the Stuff About the Hotel)
- 7:00 AM (ish) - Arrival at Tirana Airport: Okay, "arrival" is a strong word. More like, "stumbled out of the plane looking vaguely like I'd wrestled a badger and lost." The flight was delayed. Naturally. I am already questioning all life choices. The airport itself is… functional. Let's leave it at that. Found my driver. He’s got a mustache that could rival a walrus. I pray he doesn't drive like a walrus swims.
- 9:30 AM (approximately) - The Albanian Road Trip: This drive to Korce… wow. Mountains. Seriously, majestic, breath-taking mountains. And the road. Let’s just say, my stomach is currently doing a tango with my breakfast. We stopped at a roadside cafe – "cafe" is generous, it was more like a shack with tables. Still, the byrek (Albanian savory pie) was surprisingly good. It’s a good omen, right? Right?
- 1:00 PM - Check-In at Hotel Regency Korce: Finally! The hotel… ah, it’s… charming. Think slightly faded grandeur. The lobby smells faintly of lemons and… something else. Maybe old books? Maybe desperation? I can't tell. The receptionist is lovely, speaks decent English, and is probably used to tourists resembling unmade beds. The room is… clean enough. The view, though, is spectacular. Mountains everywhere. I guess I can handle the slightly musty smell.
- 1:30 PM - The Great Luggage Scramble: Found my suitcase. Hurray! Unpacked. Realized I forgot my toothbrush. The end is near.
- 2:00 PM - Lunch at the Hotel Restaurant: Okay, here's where things get… interesting. The menu. It's a land of meat. So. Much. Meat. I, a vegetarian, am now in a panic. Found a salad. It was… a salad. The bread, however, was divine. I might have eaten half a loaf. Oops. The cappuccino. Oh, the cappuccino. Lukewarm. I shed a single, dramatic tear.
- 3:00 PM - A Stroll Through Korce: Wandered around. The town is beautiful. Cobblestone streets, cute cafes, and the general feeling that time has stopped. Found a shop selling handmade souvenirs. They looked awfully shiny. I bought a small, wooden bird. It might be the beginning of a collection. Or the sign of a nervous breakdown.
- 6:00 PM - Dinner. Again. Meat. More meat. Found a "vegetarian" option at a different restaurant: grilled vegetables… that were also, somehow, saturated in meat fat. Ate the bread. Cried a little bit.
- 8:00 PM - The Evening of Regrets and Red Wine: The hotel bar’s quiet. And the red wine is shockingly good. I'm sitting here, watching the sunset, feeling a strange mix of exhaustion, exhilaration, and the distinct possibility of getting lost in a country I barely understand. I think I'll be okay. Maybe.
Day 2: Churches, Coffee, and the Quest for a Decent Salad
- 9:00 AM - Breakfast at the Hotel: The bread situation is improving. The cappuccino… well, it’s a gamble. I'm going to order it anyway because, you know, I'm a masochist at heart.
- 10:00 AM - The Monastery of Saint George: Holy moly. This place is stunning. The frescoes are incredible, even if my brain is still fried from yesterday's meat-induced coma. The air smells of incense. I lit a candle. Made a (mental) wish.
- 11:30 AM - Coffee Hunt: The coffee search continues. Found a cafe, and the espresso… surprisingly, it was perfect! A small victory!
- 12:30 PM - Lunch… the Salad Saga Continues: Back to the meat-filled restaurant, sigh. Okay, here's my plan: ask VERY specifically for a salad with no meat. Hold my breath. Cross my fingers. Say a prayer to the vegetarian gods.
- 2:00 PM - Museum of Education: Surprisingly interesting! Albania's history is… complicated. It reminds me that the world is a nuanced disaster of beauty and failure.
- 4:00 PM - The Local Market: Bargaining. Trying to figure out the Albanian currency. Feeling like a total idiot. Bought some fruit. It's delicious.
- 6:00 PM - Dinner: The Vegetarian Triumph! Okay, miracles do happen. Found a place that serves (gasp!) actual vegetarian food. I am now dancing a jig in my hotel room, high on freedom and falafel.
- 8:00 PM – The balcony, late at night. Just me, the mountains, some (good) local wine, and a profound sense of peace. This, I think, is what it's all about.
Day 3: More Mountains, Good Chocolate, and Saying Goodbye (Maybe)
- 9:00 AM - One last hotel breakfast. Praying for a good cappuccino.
- 10:00 AM - Hiking in the mountains. I will try my hardest.
- 12:00 PM - Hotel check out.
- Departure…
Post-Script/Ramblings:
Look, Albania knocked my socks off. I came expecting one thing and found a whole other level of complexity and beauty. It’s a country that will test you, frustrate you, fill your belly (with meat especially), and make you want to stay. I'll be back. And next time… I'll learn more Albanian, pack more snacks, and maybe, just maybe, find a decent cappuccino.
Sorrento's Hidden Gem: Hilton Palace Hotel—Unforgettable Luxury Awaits!
Okay, let's start with the basics: Is the Hotel Regency Korce ACTUALLY luxurious? And by luxurious, I mean, like, REAL luxury, not "luxury" as defined by a desperate travel brochure.
Alright, the big question! And the answer... well, it's complicated. Imagine a scale: on one end, you've got Buckingham Palace, and the other, a hostel with shared showers and questionable wallpaper. Regency Korce? I'd position it somewhere in the middle. More leaning towards "nicely appointed" than "jaw-dropping opulence."
Honestly, the lobby *did* have a grand piano (which, sadly, no one ever played while I was there; missed opportunity!). The rooms were spacious, but I’ve seen bigger closets in a broom. The bathrooms were clean, praise be! But that "unbelievable" part? Maybe a tad exaggerated. It's more of a gentle luxury, the kind you appreciate after a long day of trekking through the Albanian countryside. Think comfortable, not necessarily "mind-blowing." I'd give it a solid 7/10 on the luxury scale. Maybe a 7.5 on a good day.
What's the food situation like? Because let's be real, a hotel can make or break itself on its breakfast, right? And are there restaurants nearby, because I might need a break from the hotel's offerings…or worse.
Breakfast… ah, breakfast. It's THE ultimate test. And at Regency Korce? It’s decent! They had a buffet, which is always a good sign. A spread of eggs, bacon (sometimes suspiciously dry bacon, I admit), local pastries, and a selection of fruits. Coffee? Acceptable. Not the best coffee in Albania, but it kept me upright and caffeinated enough to navigate the cobblestone streets of Korce.
There's a hotel restaurant for dinner, which, eh, was nothing special. It wasn't terrible, but it didn’t exactly make me want to write home about it. I'd recommend venturing out for your evening meals. Korce's got some amazing restaurants, seriously. I stumbled upon a little place called "Restaurant Vila 90" (I think?), and the lamb – oh, the lamb! Absolutely divine. Seriously, I’m still dreaming about that lamb!
**Pro Tip:** Don't be afraid to explore. Half the fun is getting lost (but preferably not lost *too* lost) and discovering local gems.
Speaking of getting lost...how are the hotel's location and its accessibility? Is it difficult to navigate to and from the hotel and around the town?
The hotel's pretty well-located. A quick walk to the main square, which makes exploring the city super easy. You can easily get the feel of Korce without needing a taxi every five minutes. Which is great, because, Albanian taxis... well, let's just say they're an experience.
Getting into the city is a breeze, but getting *to* Korce in the first place? That's a whole other story. If you're flying into, say, Tirana, you’ll either need to rent a car (the adventurous route) or hop on a bus (the budget-friendly, but longer option). The roads aren't always the smoothest, so pack some travel sickness tablets just in case. And keep an eye out for – and I'm not kidding – for stray goats. Seriously.
Once you're there, the hotel itself is pretty accessible. But the ancient cobblestone streets of Korce? Not so much. So, if you have mobility issues, be prepared for some uneven surfaces. It's part of the charm, but it's also, you know, reality.
What are the rooms like? Like, *really* like? Are they clean? Quiet? And most importantly, is the bed comfortable? Because a bad bed can ruin a whole vacation, people.
Okay, the rooms. Here's the lowdown. They're generally clean. I didn’t find any rogue dust bunnies plotting world domination, which is a huge plus in my book. The décor is… well, it's there. It's a safe style, let's say. Nothing particularly exciting, but also nothing that would make you shudder in horror.
Noise levels: Depends on your luck. I requested a quiet room, and I *mostly* got one. There was a bit of street noise in the morning, but nothing unbearable. The beds… The beds are actually pretty good! A decent mattress, comfortable pillows. I slept like a log. A very appreciative log, mind you. That is crucial! A good bed is EVERYTHING. I’ve stayed in some hotels where the beds felt like concrete slabs, and trust me, it’s not fun.
Are there any amenities or services at the hotel worth mentioning? Spa? Gym? Laundry service for the accident-prone (me)?
Yes, yes, to the laundry service! Thank goodness! Because, again, I'm a disaster prone traveller. There's a laundry service, which came in handy after a particularly messy encounter with some gelato (don’t ask). There's a gym, although I didn’t personally venture in there. Spa? Yes, there is a spa! I didn't try it but I looked into it. I think if I’d actually had the time, I would have done it, because I'm all about massages and pampering, but my schedule was already crammed to the brim with exploring.
They also offer a concierge service, which was useful for arranging tours and getting recommendations. The staff were friendly and helpful, in general. They’re not overly fussy, they're quite lovely. The kind of staff that make you feel like you're not just another tourist, if you know what I mean.
What's the vibe like? Is it a place for families? Couples? Solo travellers who want a bit of peace? Or more of a party atmosphere?
The vibe? It's… relaxed. It’s not a party hotel, so you solo travelers can breathe a sigh of relief. Families are welcome, but it’s not exactly a kids' paradise, either. It feels more geared towards couples and those looking for a quiet escape. Think romantic getaways, exploring, and perhaps a bit of reading with a view. No poolside DJs or foam parties. Which, frankly, is a good thing, in my book.
I saw a few couples, some solo travelers like myself, and the odd family. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the peace and quiet. Which is what I'm looking for, honestly. I'm getting old, I like silence! I like relaxing by a window with a book, and in that respect, Regency Korce delivers, big time.
So, the big question: Would you stay there again? And what's the single biggest piece of advice you'd give someone considering a stay at Regency Korce?
