Casa Carissa Bali: Your Dream Indonesian Villa Awaits!
Casa Carissa Bali: My Brain Dump (aka, a Review!) - Seriously Though, Bali Bliss Awaits!
Okay, buckle up buttercups, because I'm about to spill the tea – or, more accurately, the Bali iced tea – on Casa Carissa. Forget your perfectly polished travel blogs. This is the real deal. You want the nitty-gritty? You got it. This place… it’s a vibe. And it's a damn good one.
First things first: Accessibility. Look, I don’t have mobility issues. I can leap tall buildings (okay, maybe just a slightly elevated curb) in a single bound. But I DO appreciate a place that thinks about accessibility. Casa Carissa? They seem to. I saw elevators (huge plus!), and the general layout appeared pretty user-friendly. I didn’t specifically test out all accessible features, but the impression was good. Big points for thinking about it, even if I couldn't 100% confirm everything was perfect. (And let's be real, flawless accessibility in Bali is a high bar. The island's charm lies in its… well, sometimes chaotic charm!).
Internet Access: Okay, this is crucial. I'm a digital nomad (read: perpetually glued to my laptop). FREE WI-FI IN ALL ROOMS?! Yes, please! And it was… mostly reliable. There were a few moments of buffering during peak Instagram-scrolling hours, but hey, you're in Bali! Embrace the slow-down. They also have Internet [LAN] if you really need that wired connection. And, Wi-Fi in public areas. That’s a win.
Cleanliness and Safety: This is where Casa Carissa REALLY shines, especially considering the whole… pandemic thing. They’re practically obsessed with cleanliness, in a good way. I saw anti-viral cleaning products being used, daily disinfection in common areas, and the staff… bless them, were incredibly attentive. Hand sanitizer was EVERYWHERE. They're taking this seriously. They even had rooms sanitized between stays. And oh, the hot water linen and laundry washing! You could practically eat off the sheets (though I wouldn't recommend it!).
Dining, Drinking, and Snacking: A Foodie’s Delight (and Possibly an Alcoholic’s Paradise)
Alright, let’s talk food. Because, Bali. Casa Carissa does not disappoint.
- Restaurants: Plural! Score! I sampled the Asian cuisine in the restaurant, and let me tell you, the Nasi Goreng… chefs kiss. And the poolside bar? Pure bliss. Sipping a cocktail while taking a dip in the pool? Sold. Especially after a long day of… well, doing absolutely nothing.
- Breakfast: Asian breakfast and Western breakfast options? Check and check! The Breakfast [buffet] was incredible, with a vast array of treats, even taking it breakfast takeaway service. Okay, a minor grumble here, the coffee wasn't the best (I'm a coffee snob, sue me!). But the views more than made up for it. And let's be honest, after a night of Bali-style revelry, anything edible is a win.
- Snacks: Coffee/tea in restaurant, bottle of water, desserts in restaurant, salad in restaurant and of course, happy hour. Enough said.
Things to Do & Ways to Relax: Ditching the Grind for Island Time
Okay, THIS is the real reason you come to Bali, right? To escape the daily grind and become a slightly sunburnt, blissed-out version of yourself. Casa Carissa gets it.
- The Pool: The swimming pool [outdoor] is gorgeous. And did I mention the pool with a view?! Seriously, Instagram fodder galore. I practically lived in that water.
- Spa & Relaxation: This is where I went full-on hedonist. I indulged in a massage. Total heaven. Then I wandered into the sauna, followed by the spa. They had everything! Body scrub, body wrap, you name it. It was glorious, and really, really needed after a long day of, uh, strenuous sunbathing. The gym is pretty good as well, including fitness center and its gym/fitness
- For the Kids: They had babysitting service! (Don't worry I didn't use it) and kids facilities which is amazing!
Rooms and Amenities: My Cozy Hideaway
My room? Pure sanctuary. Air conditioning, thank god! Blackout curtains (essential for those jet-lagged naps), comfy bed, and a seriously amazing shower (I am a shower person). They even had bathrobes! I felt like royalty. Especially loved the reading light, and a mini bar (stocked, of course!). The complimentary tea and free bottled water were much appreciated. Plus, the view? Jaw-dropping.
Anecdote Time: The Time I Almost Became a Poolside Regular
Okay, so, I’m a bit of a creature of habit. I found a perfect sun lounger by the pool. Perfect angle, perfect shade, perfect view. And I claimed it. For… several days. I was getting to know the staff by name (shoutout to Ketut, the pool bar guy! You're a legend!), and they knew my order: iced coffee, extra strong. The only time I left that lounger was for a massage, and even then, I practically crawled back to it. It was pure, unadulterated laziness bliss. And that, friends, is what Casa Carissa is all about.
Services and Conveniences: They Thought of Everything!
Convenience Store: Super handy for snacks and… emergency mosquito repellent (Bali, am I right?).
Currency Exchange: No need to scramble at the airport!
Concierge: Super helpful with booking excursions and… well, anything you need.
Cashless Payment Service: a life-saver!
Services for disabled guests: Yes!
Getting Around: Bali Bliss on Wheels
- Airport transfer: They made this so hassle-free.
- Car park: If you are so inclined, they have your car to park, and some with car power charging station.
- Taxi service: Easy peasy.
Okay, So, Let's Talk Imperfections (Because Nothing is Perfect!)
Look, no place is perfect. The coffee could be better. Sometimes the Wi-Fi faltered. And there was that ONE time during the massage where I may have… snored. Loudly. But honestly? These are minor quibbles.
The Verdict: Book It, You Won't Regret It!
Casa Carissa Bali is more than just a hotel. It's an experience. It's a chance to disconnect, recharge, and embrace the magic of Bali. It's the perfect blend of luxury and relaxation, with a heavy dose of Balinese charm.
My Crazy Honest Offer (Because Everyone Loves a Deal!)
Stop scrolling and book it. Right now.
Here's the deal: I am not affiliated with the hotel, but if I could, I’d offer you an exclusive discount just like them.

Okay, buckle up, buttercups. This isn't your perfectly curated Instagram travel guide. This is me in Casa Carissa, Bali… warts and all. Prepare for a rollercoaster of sun, sweat, existential dread, and questionable food choices.
Casa Carissa - Bali: A Messy, Beautiful Mess
Day 1: Arrival & The Great Gecko Massacre of '23
- 14:00 – Arrival at Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS). Ugh. Airports. That smell of jet fuel and forced optimism always hits me like a brick. The immigration line snaked for what felt like approximately 13,789 years. My backpack, bless its cotton soul, felt heavier with every sweaty second. And the air? Thick enough to chew.
- 15:30 – Driver Pick-up. Found my driver, Ketut (every Balinese man is named Ketut, apparently, I'm not sure why). He was a sweet guy, but his English was… limited. The drive to Casa Carissa, however, was sheer magic. The rice paddies! The temples! (Side note: I’m pretty sure I saw a monkey steal a child’s ice cream, and my brain immediately assumed the kid was doomed…Bali, you're a wild ride.)
- 17:00 – Check-in at Casa Carissa. This place is stunning. Seriously. The photos don’t lie. The private pool is practically beckoning to me. I swear, I’m going to become one with that water.
- 18:00 – Room Exploration & Gecko Apocalypse. Okay, okay, this is where things got REAL. My room? Gorgeous. The outdoor bathroom situation? A little…intense. I was admiring the view (aka, a giant, potentially-poisonous-looking spider) when… SCREAAAAAAAM. A gecko. A HUGE gecko. It. Was. Everywhere. My serene, zen vibes evaporated faster than water droplets on hot concrete. I'm pretty sure I spent a solid half hour screaming while attempting to shoo the reptile out of my room. I'm pretty sure the staff are now questioning my sanity but I'm also questioning their lack of gecko-detecting strategies.
- 19:00 – Dinner at Casa's Restaurant. Dinner was… well. Let’s just say I ordered the "safe" option of Nasi Goreng. It was good, but after the gecko incident, my appetite had taken an extended holiday. Stared at the pool. Contemplated life choices after what seemed to be an eternity. Went to bed early, praying for gecko-free dreams.
Day 2: Sun, Surf & the Quest for Decent Coffee
- 07:00 – Woke up. Sun streaming in. No geckos! (Victory!) But, also, a dull, nagging headache. I guess the stress of the previous day had finally caught up with me.
- 08:00 – Breakfast at Casa. The breakfast buffet was ok. More of a snack, to be frank. The coffee? Like brown-tinged water. My caffeine-addicted heart wept. The quest for decent coffee in Bali has begun! (And continues…)
- 09:00 – Beach Trip to (attempted) Canggu. Got a driver! A very chatty, slightly too-enthusiastic driver. Apparently, Canggu is THE place. I was ready. I was excited. Then, the traffic. Dear God, the traffic. It was biblical. We crawled. We stalled. We inched forward. I began to question all my life choices.
- 10:30 – Finally Arrived at Canggu Beach. Okay, the beach IS beautiful. The waves? BIG. The surfers? Skilled. The atmosphere? Packed. I spent about 20 minutes contemplating actually going IN the water before deciding that my swimming skills are more "dog-paddle near the hotel pool" and less "pro surfer". I just sat and watched everyone's efforts and made some judgemental thoughts.
- 11:30 – Lunch and the Food Coma of Doom. Found a cute little Warung. Ordered a smoothie (delicious!) and a chicken dish (spicy!). Then, the food coma hit. Hard. I swear, I could have napped in a ditch. This is Bali, after all.
- 14:00 – Back to Casa. (Thank GOD for the driver!) The afternoon was spent… swimming. And napping by the pool. And trying to forget the traffic from earlier. It was bliss. Pure, unadulterated, sun-soaked bliss.
- 18:00 – Sunset Cocktails. More cocktails. Because, why not? The sunset was spectacular. Truly breathtaking. I managed to capture a few decent photos this time.
Day 3: Temples, Tourist Traps & the Unexpected Joy of Batik
- 08:00 – Breakfast. Still hunting for good coffee. I had another breakfast snack.
- 09:00 – Tanah Lot Temple. This is where the "touristy" part of my trip begins. The temple itself is gorgeous, perched on a dramatic rock formation. The sunset views were… well, I'm sure they’re beautiful at sunset. But, it's also the most crowded time. The hordes of tourists, the endless stream of selfie sticks…It was an experience, to say the least. Felt like I was more in a human zoo…
- 11:00 – Tirta Empul Temple. This temple was… different. Spiritual. The holy water felt amazing, even though I was a tad hesitant to plunge in with everyone else… I have to give some respect for the experience, even if the water was freezing. Definitely a highlight of the trip so far.
- 13:00 – Lunch. (More spicy food. What is it with Balinese cuisine and the love of chili peppers?) Found a cute little place near the temple.
- 14:00 – Batik Class. Okay, I signed up for a batik class on a whim. I'm not usually the artsy-craftsy type. But, it turned out to be SO much fun! Watching the patterns emerge, the process of dyeing…I got pretty into it. I made a rather wonky scarf, but I'm proud of it. It's a testament to my "embrace the imperfection" travel philosophy.
- 17:00 – Relaxing in the room. I think I had to go back to the room before I fell asleep on the ground somewhere.
- 19:00 – Dinner at Casa and the Great Mosquito Massacre of '23, part 2. This time, it was mosquitoes instead of Geckos. Apparently, they love me, and I'm covered in bites. I'm starting to feel like a walking, talking buffet. The food was good, though. I have to give credit where it's due.
Day 4: Ubud, Rice Terraces, and Emotional Exhaustion
- 07:00 – Breakfast. Found a decent coffee! Finally! (Celebration!)
- 08:00 – Travel to Ubud. Ubud is a whole other story. Filled with yoga bunnies. I don't like it.
- 09:00 - Rice Terraces The drive was beautiful. The views are incredible. I got lost in a field of rice. Found myself again.
- 12:00 - Monkey Forest I hate monkeys. I just do. I also had my sunglasses stolen by one.
- 15:00 - Back to Casa. I can't. I may have had a small breakdown after all the monkeys and the traffic.
- 19:00 - Casa Carissa Restaurant. I like the food. I like not leaving the hotel.
- 20:00 - Bed. I need to sleep so that tomorrow it's not my flight.
Day 5: Departure and the Promise of an Early Return
- 08:00 – Last Breakfast. The coffee was still good. I might cry when I leave.
- 09:00 – Pack. I don't want to pack.
- 12:00 - Travel to Airport. Sigh.
- 14:00 - Leave. I want to come back.
In Conclusion:
Bali is… a lot. Chaotic. Beautiful. Frustrating. Exhilarating. Bug-infested. Food-coma-inducing. And I wouldn't trade a moment of it, even the gecko encounters. I leave with a sunburn, a slightly less-than-perfect batik scarf, and a deep, abiding love for this messy, magical island. I guess I'll be back. Probably sooner than I think. I'm already craving that Nasi Goreng, and… well, the geckos weren't that bad, right? (Right…?)
Escape to Paradise: The Morar Hotel Awaits You in Magical Morar, UK
Casa Carissa Bali: Your Dream Indonesian Villa Awaits! - Ask Us Anything (Seriously!)
Okay, spill the tea! Is Casa Carissa REALLY as amazing as those perfectly filtered Instagram pics make it out to be?
Alright, let's be honest. Instagram? It's a LIE, a glorious, sparkling, selectively-angled LIE. But... yes. Casa Carissa is probably EVEN BETTER. I went there, and I'm not even exaggerating when I say my jaw DIPPED. The pictures show a beautiful villa, but they can't *begin* to convey the feeling of walking through that open-air living room, the Balinese breeze kissing your face, the scent of frangipani heavy in the air... it's intoxicating.
There's a catch though. Okay, maybe a few. Things don't always *perfectly* run like clockwork, darling. Remember, you're in Bali. A little lizard might sneak into your bathroom (happened to me, nearly gave myself a heart attack). And the wi-fi...sometimes, it was Bali-style. Spotty. But honestly? That was kind of a blessing. It forced me to actually *relax*. Plus, the staff is AMAZING. They sort it all out with grace and a smile. Just embrace the imperfections, okay?
What's the deal with the pool? Is it as Instagrammable as it looks? Is it, like, REALLY cold or what?
THE POOL. Oh, the pool. It IS Instagrammable. More than that, it's...a sanctuary. That turquoise hue? Real. The feeling of slipping into the water after a hot day spent exploring? Pure bliss. Now the coldness thing? Yeah, it's refreshing! You can definitely take a dip in it and it'll be good, but I wouldn't say it's freezing. During the peak of the day though, the sun really warms it up. That said, they weren't kidding about the water temperature, it's a great relief after a day of swimming around in the sun, and you'll love spending all your time here.
I spent HOURS in that pool. HOURS. Read books, sipped cocktails (more on those later...), and just floated looking up at the Bali sky. Honestly, I almost didn't want to leave the pool. It’s one of those things you won't want to leave.
The food! Tell me about the food! Will I be surviving on instant noodles and regrets?
Okay, listen up. THE FOOD. This is a HUGE selling point. Casa Carissa has a chef. A REAL chef. You tell them what you want (within reason!), and they make it. Breakfast? Think fresh fruit platters, pancakes, eggs cooked to your liking...everything you need for the most important meal of the day. For lunch and dinner, it's even better. Fresh seafood, amazing Nasi Goreng, incredible satay… And they totally cater to dietary restrictions. I'm a vegetarian (judging by the food) and they were absolutely fantastic about accommodating my needs.
My *only* regret is that I didn't eat *everything* on the menu. One night, I had this coconut curry (it was perfect), and then another night I requested a simple meal. The staff went above and beyond, and everything was beyond heavenly.
What are the rooms like? Are they air-conditioned (please say yes!)?
YES! The rooms are air-conditioned! THANK GOD. Bali can get humid, and after a day out, you'll want somewhere cool to chill. The rooms are super comfy and large, with beautiful bathrooms. The beds are ridiculously comfortable, seriously, I wanted to just give up and sleep the whole vacation. They're all individual pavilions with their own privacy. They're all designed to be beautiful, with traditional Balinese decor, and those gorgeous mosquito nets over the beds. Seriously, it feels like you're sleeping in a dream. The only (very minor) downside? You might not want to leave your room.
How far is Casa Carissa from… everything? Like, the beach, restaurants, chaos?
Casa Carissa is located in a really great spot! It's not right on the main road where you're going to hear all the noise. It’s kind of secluded, but close enough to everything. You can still travel to the main area by taxi. The beach is close, just a short taxi ride and you have beach access. Restaurants, bars, shops... all are within easy reach. I would say you will have to get a taxi to get to the main area, but it's not going to take long.
What kind of services does Casa Carissa offer? Can I get a massage practically on-demand? *wink wink*
Oh, honey, YES. Massages? On-demand! They have a massage room, and you can arrange for a therapist to come to the villa. I had two... maybe three... massages. Okay, it was three. And they were divine. Deep tissue, Balinese style... the works. It was an amazing experience. The staff can also arrange for things like drivers and tours. They really go above and beyond to make your stay seamless. Seriously, the service is impeccable. They are always available to help you with whatever you need. They are always thinking of ways to make your experience even better.
Are there any things you didn't love? Be honest!
Okay, okay, time for brutal honesty. The wi-fi could be a bit… temperamental. But honestly, as I said before, this isn’t the end of the world. Be prepared for the occasional power outage or little quirk because, you know, Bali. You're in a tropical paradise, not a sterile hotel room. But the positives far outweigh the negatives. And the staff were always attentive, and they sort things out quickly.
But I’m really reaching to find something negative. If I had to be super-picky, maybe the road leading to the villa isn't the prettiest. (But that's Bali!) And some of the furniture felt a little worn, but I'm being completely petty here. It’s still beautiful and comfortable.
Is Casa Carissa worth the price?
YES. 100%. Worth. Every. Penny. It's not "cheap," but what you get in return – the privacy, the service, the incredible food, the sheer beauty of the place – it's anHotel Deals Search
